If you're new to vaping, you may still be getting to grips with the many terminologies surrounding vape products. When you’ve only ever smoked cigarettes, it can take a while to learn what each part of your vape does too. One part that is vital to the vape setup but is often unknown to new vape users is the vape coil and lots of people don’t know what this part is or why it’s important.
There are lots of coil options on the market as well and choosing the right one for your vape device isn’t always easy. Thankfully, our team at The Vape Life is here to guide you through the process of choosing a new vape coil. We stock a variety of different vape coils and when purchasing via our shop, you will have several options to choose from. So, you won’t struggle to find the perfect coil for your vaping needs.
What is a vape coil?
Before you can choose the right vape coil for your device, you need to know what a vape coil is, especially because it plays such an important role in the vape kit. The coil is the part of the vape that is responsible for heating the e-liquid. Ultimately, it is the coil that turns the liquid into vapour, which you then inhale. This is why it’s so integral to the function of your vape.
Despite its importance, the construction of a vape coil is fairly simple. It tends to be made out of a coiled piece of wire or mesh, and some sort of wicking material like cotton. There are a variety of different resistances that you can choose from for your vape coil too. Depending on your vaping style, you may find that low or high resistance coils are better suited to you, as some coils will produce larger clouds of vapour than others.
What different types of coils are there?
When purchasing a new vape coil, there are several options available. Most devices will have either mesh or standard coil or sometimes both. The materials used to make the coil will affect the flavour of the e-liquid and the cloud production of your vape, so take some time to consider exactly what you want out of your vape experience and what you want to prioritise.
Standard Coil
Standard coils are made using cotton wrapped with a wire that’s used to heat up to cotton and vaporise e-liquid. These types of coils are great for MTL (Mouth To lung) vaping and can be run on lower wattage.
Mesh Coil
Because of their larger surface area, mesh coils don't get extremely hot like their spiral counterparts. This means that they are often characterised by a cooler vaping experience and tend to last longer than regular coils. In addition, this allows mesh coils to produce a more considerable vapour volume and more flavourful taste than normal coils and provides a faster heating time.
