Useful Tips To Stop Your Vape Tank Leaking

If you own a vape device then is it highly likely that it has leaked on you at least once, if not many times. We understand first hand just how frustrating a leaking tank/clearomizer can be and the mess vape juice can cause can make the whole situation worse. Thankfully, the annoyance of a leaking vape isn’t something that you have to put up with and you don’t necessarily need to buy a new tank every time you notice a leak.

Many vapers are surprised to hear that there are actually a few ways that you can fix the problems with your leaking tank, or at least reduce the amount of e-liquid that is leaking out of your device. So, next time your vape clearomizer starts causing you problems, before you throw it away and get a new one, be sure to try one of the following easy fixes first, hopefully, they will work for you.

Screw all parts of your vape on correctly

This may seem obvious, but when you’re used to filling up your tank on a regular basis and changing your coil it can be easy to rush and not screw your device back together properly. Try to ensure that you’re taking the time to check that everything is attached as it should be, but in the same breath, don’t screw parts on too tight either. This can lead to your o-rings getting damaged and even more leaking problems.

Replace your o-rings

If you’ve been over-tightening your parts then you will probably benefit from new o-rings and this can often be the key to your leaking issues. Even without screwing parts on too tight your o-rings can still become damaged over time and they can sometimes move out of position too. Ideally, double-check that these little rubber rings are where they should be and if they look degraded, simply swap them out for some new ones. These are normally included as spare with your kit.

Double-check which coil you’re using

As you’re probably aware, there are different coil options to choose from for your vape. Generally speaking, higher resistance coils are better for higher PG liquids and low resistance coils are better for higher VG liquids. If you’re using the wrong coil for your liquid, this could be what’s causing your tank to leak, so simply changing your coil to one that’s suitable for your vape juice should help.

Look for cracks in your tank

Again, this might seem quite obvious but small hairline cracks in your tank can be really easy to miss and you can almost guarantee that e-liquid will be seeping out of them. Inspect your tank for any small cracks in the glass or plastic and if you notice any, you’re going to need replacements for your tank. Thankfully it is really easy to pick up spare glass and this can prevent you from having to buy a whole new clearomizer.

Play around with your inhalation style

If you’re new to vaping and you used to smoke then your inhalation style may be what’s causing your device to leak. Instead of taking short sharp puffs like you do on a tobacco cigarette, try to change your style so that you’re inhaling slowly and softly. This will help to prevent too much vape juice from being drawn into the coil and flooding it because it can’t vapourise. This can take some time to get used to but you will get there.

Replace your coil

Often, people experience problems with their vape device leaking just before their coil needs to be changed, so if nothing else has stopped the leak, then it’s probably time for a new coil. Even if you haven’t got to the stage where your e-liquid tastes burnt yet, your coil might not be functioning properly and this will increase the likelihood of leaking. Everyone has to change their coil eventually, so don’t put this job off.

Purchasing a new tank/clearomizer for your vape

Whilst it is fair to say that preventing your vape device from leaking altogether is almost impossible, even if you do have the best clearomizer, these tips should help to prevent you from having to put up with annoying leaks ruining your vape experience. So, next time you take your vape out with you, make sure you’ve carried out any required preventative maintenance and you should be good to go.
